Venn Farm Cottages Facilities
The four star cottages have been extremely well equipped with quality cooking equipment, tools, cutlery, glass and crockery so you should need to bring nothing by way of equipment. Over the past two years we have installed showers, fully redecorated and furnished the cottages. This year we have carpeted the cottages and and put in new flat screen LCD televisions, DVD/video players and fridge freezers. We can provide cots, high chairs and stair gates on request and at no charge. You can also expect the very highest standards of cleanliness and hospitality at Venn Farm.
The cottages are set in 50 Acres of fields and wooded areas which guests are free to explore.
In addition to a relaxed and comfortable environment for our adult visitors we provide an exciting time for children. Every morning and evening the children love to help us feed and care for the animals. We have friendly sheep who like to be hand fed, lambs (some of which are bottle fed), Aylesbury and Pekin ducks, rescued Battery hens, purebred hens, rabbits and cats.
There is a play area with climbing frames, slides, swings, ropes and monkey bars as well as a giant 14 foot trampoline with safety net. We have a 'fleet' of ride on tractors and trailers and a safe yard in which the children can play on them. We can provide some garden games including boules, balls, catching games, mini golf game for toddlers and each cottage has a few board games and packs of playing cards. Other board games are available from the farm house.
Our collection of almost 1,800 videos and DVDs is available for free loan, just in case it rains, for the children while you cook supper or for the adults having a night in together.
If you wish to walk locally or explore Devon we will loan you large scale Ordnance Survey maps and guide books. We have several videos of the local countryside too.
Venn farm Cottages sponsor the Meerkat Enclosure of Exmoor Zoo and a number of other animals such as otters, kookaburras and monkeys. As a consequence you can visit the Zoo free of charge when you are a guest in one of our cottages saving more than £25 for a family of four. Exmoor Zoo is an excellent small zoo which is keen on conservation and education. There are many activities for adults and children daily including zoo trails, talks, animal encounters and much more.
